I recommend Paris maps professionally and, while I’ve always favoured the Michelin map books (I use that term to distinguish from fold-out maps), this one, #62, is the most unsatisfying one in a long time. First of all, it’s not really 1/10,000 as they claim. The maps in the book vary in scale and many are (I would estimate) more like 1/14,000, which makes them difficult to read unless you have very good eyes. The Metro and RER maps are not user-friendly either. I loved Michelin’s earlier Paris Maps, #14 and #62, but I kind of feel that they’ve lost the plot, or “plat” in this case. Ironically, #62 remains one of the better of the available pocket maps of Paris.
