Chicago

Residences, office towers, commercial structures and industrial installations crowd Chicago’s shorelines along with some of the inland US’s loveliest beaches and parks. Architectural gems, both modern and historic, punctuate the urban skyline, and the “Second City” boasts numerous world-class museums and performing ensembles along with professional sports teams and leading universities, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the US.

San Francisco

Founded as Mission Dolores (by priests) and the Presidio (by soldiers) in 1776, San Francisco grew from the pueblo of Yerba Buena. In 1835, English sailor William Richardson, married to the daughter of the Presidio comandante, set up a tent where Grant Avenue now runs. Yerba Buena grew modestly on trade, changing its name to San Francisco after the US claimed California in 1846.
